Period of staying abroad with a biometric passport during the war

The war has lasted much longer than every Ukrainian expected, and unfortunately, no one knows when they will be able to return to their homes. If you do not have an open visa to stay in Europe or your biometric passport is expiring, then this article is for you.

Terms of staying abroad during the war

Even during the war, you can stay in the territory of the visa-free regime with Ukraine for no more than 90 days in 180 days. Each Ukrainian must calculate for himself how many days they were in the territory of the country where this is allowed. This rule applies to those who have not issued temporary protection status.

However, when the period of staying has expired, you have the right to obtain a residence permit in a separate country. Most countries have a simplified procedure for Ukrainian refugees.

Be aware that depending on the country of residence, the rules and conditions may change and you need to find out at the place of temporary registration about obtaining national documents or permits.

How to find out the number of unused days of stay?

Every person can freely cross the borders of different countries by biometrics and at a certain time the question arises: "How many more days can I stay abroad?". And at such a moment, it would be nice to be able to quickly and simply calculate the number of days left.

The State Migration Service of Ukraine has launched an online migration calculator that will help you with this.

Is it possible to stay in Poland after completing biometrics?

Please note that Poland has allowed Ukrainians to stay for up to 18 months, but without the right to leave the country. If you still want to move freely and not have certain restrictions, then you need to get a temporary residence permit in Poland or get a visa.
