Is the Autocivilka necessary if there is CASCO?

Is the Autocivilka necessary if there is CASCO?

Buying a dream car entails certain requirements: the ability to drive, perfect knowledge of traffic rules, and, of course, insurance. And here it should be said that it can be different. There is OSAGO, which in the event of an accident provides compensation to the third party. And insurance that provides for compensation for damage to your car - the full CASCO insurance, the price of which, of course, will be different. However, it is worth knowing what the car owner must have and what can be arranged at will.

If you have CASCO and no OSAGO insurance

Of course, some drivers wonder whether they need OSAGO if they have hull insurance. However, the answer to this question forms itself, because there is a mandatory policy. And this is OSAGO.

By the way, the law even provides for a penalty for those who do not have OSAGO. This is an administrative fine of UAH 450-850. In addition, if you cause an accident, you are obliged to fully compensate for the damage from your wallet.

CASCO is a completely different matter. It is voluntary insurance. Such insurance is already used to receive compensation for damages to your own car. This type of insurance fully justifies its name. After all, it is not an abbreviation of some complicated name, but simply the Spanish word “casco”, which means “helmet” in Ukrainian. However, it does not eliminate the need to have OSAGO.

Do I need CASCO if I have a car insurance policy?

And now to the question of whether you need hull insurance. Well, if your car is in a bunker and does not leave it, then maybe you don't need it. But if it is used every day in an ordinary city and is also parked in the open at night, then you simply cannot do without a “helmet”. After all, this is a guarantee that you will receive compensation for your own car in many situations.

In general, such insurance will give you financial protection in the following cases:

  • an accident;

  • theft or damage;

  • explosions, fires, or natural disasters;

  • any accidental events.

These are just the most common situations that can happen to a car. Getting compensation in any possible situation is provided by full CASCO. But partial CASCO will compensate only in case of those problems that the car owner himself has identified. Which option to choose depends on how well you like to sleep. In any case, it is better to minimize all possible risks. That's why, given the mandatory nature of one type of insurance and the completely different specifics of the other, the question “Is it necessary?” disappears by itself.
