In 2025, leaving the country by car will be subject to new rules. The thing is that the procedure for issuing and validity of the Green Card will be somewhat different. We can say that only one thing will not change: the policy will continue to serve as a guarantee that victims of road accidents will receive compensation. However, drivers will feel the effects of a number of innovations even at the beginning of the policy purchase process.
Innovations on the Green Card
In general, there are a number of major innovations that drivers should familiarize themselves with.
-
There will be no more “for today” issuance. Until 2025, it is still possible to issue a policy for today. However, with the introduction of new rules, you will have to buy a Green Card policy in advance. The only thing you can count on is buying a Green Card for tomorrow. Such conditions are dictated by the International Insurance Treaty. After all, according to it, the policy cannot come into force earlier than the day after the request to the Unified Central Database is created.
-
Recognition of the electronic Green Card in European countries. Before that, the MTIBU insisted on a paper version. And it had to be available even if the policy was issued online. But starting from 2025, each country that is part of the Green Card system will have to accept an electronic version of the policy.
-
Free pricing. The MTIBU has always been behind the cost of an insurance policy. And, accordingly, each insurance company offered a policy at the same price. However, everything will change in 2025. From then on, each insurance company will have the full right to set the price of the Green Card insurance policy independently.
The main goal of these changes is to modernize the insurance process. In addition, the transition to the electronic version will make the policy more convenient to use. And its acceptance in all countries is also a big plus. As for pricing, this will primarily increase competition among insurance companies. Of course, such changes will not take effect immediately at the beginning of the new year.
What should Ukrainians expect?
Of course, all these changes benefit the population in the first place. However, they are also taking place under pressure from Europe. However, the main thing here is that insurance will indeed become better, and as a result, traveling abroad will be easier. Insurance companies themselves will feel fair competition and will offer the best possible conditions to increase the number of clients. And you can buy a Green Card at KIRINS.
