Fortunately for owners of tailed pets, you can travel with them. And you can even travel abroad with your favorite furry friend. Of course, there are certain rules for transporting animals within Ukraine and abroad. Therefore, you need to prepare documents in advance and undergo all medical examinations and manipulations.

Carriers have freely available rules regarding the transportation of animals abroad. And the check-in process will include the so-called veterinary customs control. They will check the tailed animal's documents. 

International transportation of animals also dictates the conditions of the animal's stay. Only service animals or guide dogs can be in the cabin, provided they have a collar and muzzle. Small animals can be in the cabin in a carrier, but the total weight should not exceed 8 kg. In this case, only 1 carrier is allowed, even if there are several animals. Larger pets travel in the luggage compartment. For this purpose, cages or containers can be used, the total weight of which should not exceed 75 kg. There are age restrictions - tails under 4 months old cannot travel to EU countries.

In order for the transportation of animals in Ukraine to be successful, it is worth knowing some of the nuances. Most often, animal transportation is carried out by rail. First, you need to buy a ticket for your pet. In addition, you must have a veterinary and transportation document.

And of course, there are certain conditions.

  1. Animals shorter than 45 cm at the withers must travel in a container.

  2. Dogs that are taller than 45 cm at the withers can travel in a compartment, but you need to buy all the seats.

You should also make sure that the animal has a leash and muzzle.

Documents for animals - dogs and cats

The main question is: “What documents do I need for a dog to take abroad?” This list applies to both cats and other decorative pets.

  1. Veterinary passport. It must contain information about vaccinations against viral diseases, chipping, rabies vaccination, flea and worm treatment, and a photo of the animal at the age of 1. The sex of the animal in the passport is also important.

  2. There must be a microchip or identification stamp that is placed on the day of rabies vaccination.

  3. A certificate confirming the presence of antibodies against rabies.

  4. Veterinary certificate 1-BET or Form 1.

  5. International veterinary certificate.

  6. A certificate stating that the animal has no breeding value.

  7. A licensed carrier.

Therefore, when planning a trip, you need to prepare the above documents for your cat or other pet for export abroad.
